I said that I would commit to writing a post every week to document the process, but it’s been a minute. But here we are, I’ll give a young update.

The last few weeks have seen us prepare for the final leg of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program, run by WEAC and supported by the US Embassy. It’s been thirteen weeks of taking business training courses, which, should be easy because I have a Bachelor’s in International Studies with a focus on Strategic Management, but applying the theory practically is another ballgame. We completed our business plans and handed them in on Monday and we’ll be pitching for a spot in the top ten on Saturday. Send good vibes lol. Cause this year I am where the money resides. (and that’s on mary had a little lamb).

We’ve been toying with the idea of moving away from transportation a bit, and exploring the tech side of things. I had a practise pitch last Saturday, for AWE, and the feedback given was, who is your target market, and why not target owners instead of commuters?
That’s been a thought. The only problem is, how do we make money? Our current business model allows us to make revenue without relying on people who may not see the need for our services. Pivoting to being completely tech-based would mean approaching bus owners and selling the product. This is something I’ve been pondering.

What will it look like to actually be a tech startup? Will we still be able to solve commuter problems if we aren’t hands on with public transport? Will tech improve things?

I guess I’m about to find out.

(On a side note, shout out to Flutterwave for raining $170 million and being valuated at over $1 billion. Huge, huge gains. Love it so much for them.)
